CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
“We employed Eden Build to renovate (took the room down to the studs and rearranged) our primary suite bathroom to meet our aging in place needs. Craig was very easy to work with. He gently guided us and problem solved when decisions had to be made to support our future needs (e.g. French doors into the bedroom and the shower to allow for better access) and accommodated our change orders. Craig and Mat, his team member, were actively involved from the beginning of the renovation project to the completion. We were impressed with Craig and Mat’s use of Jobtread to keep us informed of progress, next steps, trades schedule, invoices and general communications. Both were very proactive, quick to respond to emails and were frequently on site. Their positive work relationship with our designer helped to make our renovation a very positive experience. We were very pleased with the exceptional quality of work and attention to detail from all of the tradespeople. Also, they all were on time, respectful, left the space very clean at the end of the day and were easy to communicate with! The goals for our project were achieved. We now have a stunning primary suite bathroom that supports our specific requirements. We are very pleased with our new master bath and highly recommend Eden Build.”
Design Elements
This ensuite, designed by Sprague Interiors, captures the calm, composed feeling of a memorable hotel stay while supporting the homeowners’ goal of aging in place safely and comfortably. A curbless shower, built-in bench, widened 36-inch doorway, smart toilet, and discreet grab bars provide accessibility without a clinical appearance. High-output pot lights and under-cabinet lighting improve visibility and nighttime safety.
Warm wood cabinetry, quartz countertops, ergonomic hardware, and layered porcelain tiles create a serene, spa-like atmosphere. Reeded glass on the eight-foot sliding door filters light softly while adding subtle texture, while panel moulding, crown detailing, and soft wall colours evoke boutique hotel elegance. Recessed medicine cabinets and thoughtful fixture placement preserve openness and visual calm.
Every design decision supports both function and feeling, resulting in an ensuite that is serene, refined, and well suited to everyday living.
Before The bathroom Renovation
floor plan & functionality
The reimagined floor plan supports confident movement, clear visibility, and long-term accessibility while maintaining a serene, open feel. Removing the bathtub eliminated a fall risk and created room for a generous curbless shower with a built-in bench, dual shower heads, and discreet grab bars. Widening the doorway to 36 inches supports barrier-free access and future mobility needs. Recessed medicine cabinets add storage without crowding the room, and custom cabinetry organizes essentials while preserving visual calm. High-output pot lights ensure even illumination throughout.
The redesigned space integrates seamlessly with the home’s refined character. Warm finishes, subtle mouldings, and layered textures complement the existing architecture, making the ensuite feel like a natural extension of the house. In-floor heating, LED lighting, and upgraded insulation provide comfort, efficiency, and health benefits year-round.
The result is a serene, intuitive ensuite that elevates daily routines and adapts gracefully to the homeowners’ future needs.
after the bathroom renovation
renovation challenges
This renovation required extensive structural and technical coordination to achieve its seamless, serene appearance. Widening the doorway within a load-bearing wall involved engineering review, new lintels, and municipal permitting. A basement support post was relocated and ductwork rerouted to maintain proper load paths. The floor was reframed to create a true curbless shower with correct slope and drainage. Walls were rebuilt to recess custom medicine cabinets into a structural partition, and solid blocking was added for grab bars and future accessories.
The eight-foot solid-core sliding door with reeded glass required reinforced framing and precise hardware installation. Plumbing was rerouted for the new shower layout, and electrical was coordinated with the panel moulding to maintain symmetry and visual calm. Careful planning and close collaboration across trades ensured each challenge was resolved without compromising the refined, accessible design.
